Movie Info:

The story is quite simple - the struggles of a man who has made his millions the hard way outside India and now wants to use it for the good of his people back home.

Sivaji Arumugam(Rajini) is a poor man's son, who has come up from a very humble life. He has made a fortune in the US and has now returned to his homeland India for good. Here, he wants to put his wealth to good use for the benefit of the common man and bring about change through quality education, medical services and self-employment - by starting his own conglomerate that makes these happen. His budget is Rs. 200 crores and he proceeds to find out the very hard way, the molasses-like sluggish movement of government procedures and obstacles at every turn. He tries his best to do it the right way, but is thwarted everywhere. His constant companion Mama (Vivek) is the one true friend he has in these tough times.

Adiseshaiah (Suman), a man who he thought was a good man, is his most vile and backstabbing enemy. This sauve villain throws every heavy weight, from government servants severely bribed by him to violent goondas, in Sivaji's way, only to find that this seemingly-docile man (dormant tiger?) withstands his assaults splendidly - with a shrug and a smile.

Along the way, Sivaji encounters Tamilselvi (Shriya), his dream woman. She's everything he wants - a true Tamil girl, beautiful, resplendent with the culture of the region. it's a tough task to convince her to be his, but he wins.

The rest of the story is about how his struggles continue and yet, he fails in the end. then decides, at a flip of a rupee coin (a very interesting background to this that one MUST see the film for), that he will give back as much as he has been given, that he will pay back the villains in their own coin. A new Sivaji - new look, new attitude and new plan - is born. How he goes about achieving his goals, how he takes his revenge on the bad guys and teaches them a lesson, how he crushes their every negative push under his feet, is what Sivaji The Boss is about.

The look and feel of the film is, needless to say, SLICK. Shankar has made Rajni look fabulous - reminds us of the good ol' Morattu Kaalai, Basha, Padayappa days - whether in his traditional stylish Rajni look or the modern 21st century one.

The humour is STUPENDOUS - Vivek is simply hilarious. Rib-tickling, tongue-in-cheek, off-the-seat-rolling and SUPER STYLISH humour. In fact, he is shoulder-to-shoulder with Rajni throughout the movie and equally important at every step. The way he has his own "punch" dialogues for Sivaji, the way he gets everyone in tears of laughter with just a sentence, makes him worth more than just one watch!

Shivshankar (
Ajith Kumar) is bound to a wheelchair and has a son, Vishnu (also played by Kumar), who is playful, spoiled, irresponsible, and young. To teach him a lesson, Shivshankar sends Vishnu to Thottapuram to help the poor. Vishnu doesn't want to go, but the owner of a pizzeria tells him and his friends that the village is one big brothel, so they go. However, Thottampuram is really a very sacred village and the pizzeria owner wants Vishnu and his friends to be beaten up there. Also arriving in Thottapuram is Dviya (Asin Thottumkal), along with her college class. They are there for their social activity course: they want to improve hygiene in the village.

The village head wants Divya and friends to stay with poor families, instead of at the large village building, because the building is reserved for six rich guests. Divya decides to woo these six newcomers and drop them afterwards, so she and her friends can get the building.

Vishnu and his five friends arrive, are greeted by the village and start to woo Divya and the girls, whom they mistake for Thottapuram's prostitutes. When Divya finds out, they decide to teach Vishnu and his friends a lesson and ensure they leave the large building so Divya and her friends can occupy it.

A large feast is celebrated, Divya and the other girls woo Vishnu and his friends and finally lead them to the bedrooms. Vishnu's friends are injected a substance called "Monkey Blood", which makes them itch all over and they leave, screaming and scratching. Vishnu himself refuses to sleep with Divya (who desperately tries to give him the "Monkey Blood", but he evades her attempts), since he says he has committed lots of small mistakes and doesn't want to make a big one by sleeping with her. He asks her to leave her profession and Divya lies to him, saying she can't, as she has to support a family that is crippled with various diseases. Vishnu, moved, leaves.

Vishnu wants to give Divya money so she can start a new life, but Divya refuses once again, saying she doesn't need a new life, she has to restore her honour - so Vishnu agrees to marry her in the village temple. Divya doesn't believe him, but Vishnu says he will be there to marry her the next day. However, Divya doesn't come, and Vishnu and his friends see her bus leaving. The bus bears the name of the girls' college; Vishnu and his friends now know they have been tricked and the girls weren't really prostitutes.

Back at home, Shivshankar notices that Vishnua has fallen in love. He makes sure, and Vishnu and Divya get engaged.

However, during the night, Jeeva (the third role played by Ajith Kumar) turns up. He is a bank robber and deposits money under Vishnu's bed, so Vishnu is suspected to have robbed the bank. Shivshankar believes him.

Vishnu gets drunk at a party and Jeeva uses a spray to knock him out. The he drives to Divya's house to see her, however her father and brothers won't let him in. A fight ensues, where Divya's father, Vijayan, tries to shoot Jeeva, who finally drives away. Vijayan ends the engagement between his daughter and Vishnu, because of the latter's behaviour who has no idea what's going on.

Vishnu visits Divya's cousin, but Jeeva's already there, knocks him out, takes over and tries to rape her. When Shivshankar hears of this, he whips his son, who does not know what happened. They send Vishnu to a therapist, however Jeeva again takes over and stabs Shivshankar's assistant. It is revealed that Jeeva hates Shivshankar since he has left his mother (
Kanika) and she has become mad because of this.

At the same time, Divya manages to sneak into Vishnu's hospital and tells him that she thinks he's innocent. She leaves and shortly afterwards, Jeeva appears, smuggles Vishnu out of the hospital, dumps him somewhere, takes over his identity and goes to kill Shivshankar. The father notices that it's not his son and gets out of his wheelchair in order to defend himself. Vishnu arrives at the scene, surprised that his father is able to walk and demands an explanation.

Shivshankar tells him that he wanted to become a dancer - however dancing is not seen as a "masculine" trait, especially by his mother, who thinks that dancing is as bad as having a disorder. She also wants Shivshankar to marry Jeeva's mother; which he does, however it's not a happy wedding, since Jeeva's mother rejects Shivshankar, as he is too demine. Shivshankar, enraged, rapes Jeeva's mother - a deed that results in a pregnancy. The doctor refuses to give a contraception to Jeeva's mother and so Jeeva is born, because Jeeva's grandmother wanted the child. Despite wanting to go back to Shivshankar, Jeeva's mother slowly goes mad.

Jeeva escapes and now threatens the wedding between Vishnu and Divya. He wants to blow up the entire ceremony, and Shivshankar tries to stop him. Finally, Jeeva's grandmother comes out of hospital, explains the entire affair and Jeeva realizes what he has done. He wants Shivshankar to shoot him, but instead of Jeeva, his father gets shot and dies.

In the end, Jeeva is taken into custody. Jeeva's mother does not accept food from anyone, until Vishnu comes dressed up as Jeeva and feeds her. It ends with stating that Shivshankar is their godfather.

Upon reaching his home, Mohan discovers that the farmer was once a weaver who, due to bad conditions, decided to give up his profession and become a farmer. Movie : Kangalal Kaithu Sei (2003)

Cast : Vaseekaran, Priyamani, Kanchana
Lyrics : Kapilan, P Vijay , Thenmozhi
Director : Bharathiraja
Producer : Lakshmi Movie Makers

Kangalal Kaithu Sei is Tamil film released in 2004 directed by Bharathiraja, with debutant actor Vaseegaran and Priyamani.

Movie Info :

Taking a break from his rural-based subjects, Bharatiraja ventures into the urban milieu, with what's meant to be a psychological thriller.

The male protagonist is a young business tycoon, an orphan and a loner. And what the world doesn't know is that Vaseegaran is a kleptomaniac too. She's a pretty girl, the fiance of a cop, who's been a witness to one of Vaseegaran's Flicking episode.

And when one day a priceless diamond which she was assigned to gurad at an exhibition gets stolen, Vidya is sure who the culprit is. The cops refuse to believe her, and her reputation at stake, Vidya enters Vaseegaran's house on false pretensions and becomes his trusted personal secretary. The lonely youth finds in her his Cindrella. And when truth dawns, he takes her on a trip to Switzerland. What transpires between the duo forms the rest.

The film has a lot going for it. Like it's pretty debutant heroine Priyamani, who with more experience can turn out to be a good actress too. A smart hero in Vaseegaran who plays the poor little rich boy with panache. Rehman's music has some catchy numbers, well picturised too. Impressive visuals by Kannan, catching the action and the exotic locales of Switzerland impressively. A stylised narration and a suspense build up throughout. But there's a vital element missing-a Coherent script.

Missing are the convincing scenes that would have justified some of the antics of the characters, and also explained the air of ominous suspense that pervaded throughout the narration. Vidya is made to look a little foolish, when she frantically tries to retrieve the diamond from Vaseegaran's fish tank.

Knowing he's about to step out of his house to board a plane, Vidya had all the time in the world to retrieve it. There's a bit too much of running, fleeing and hiding, not always with a convincing reason. Further, the ominous music that follows whenever Vaseegaran appears on the screen, is misleading, giving the impression throughout that there was something more to the character than met the eye. And one waits till the end-in vain-for this mysterious terrifying element to be unravelled!

If a little more of the thought and energy spent on making the frills attractive, had been spent on the structuring of the script, perhaps K K S would have turned out to be an engaging thriller. Bharatiraja had done it earlier in 'Red Roses'. And there's no reason why he can't do it again!

A guy called Munna (Siddharth) from this group of boys falls in love with her and she falls for him too. After coming to know about it, the parents separate the boy, girl and the friends. The boy and the girl get desperate and elope, with their group of friends, to Tirupati and get married.

The parents throw them out. The friends also come out to support this young couple. They all work together to make a living. They find their strengths and hidden talents. They form a band called 'Boys'. Sign a contract with Sony Music and win the MTV awards. In the process, differences crop up between the wedded couple and they fall out. The rest of the film is all about how they get united with the help of their friends.

Movie : Parasuram (2003)

Cast : Arjun,Rahul Dev,Kiran,Gayathri Raghuram
Lyrics : Vairamuthu, Pazhani Bharathi, Pa Vijay, Kapilan
Director : Arjun
Producer : Prabhakaran/Anbalaya Films

Movie Info
:

The film opens on the India –Pakistan border as three youths try to enter India, but two are shot dead. The one who has survived to tell the story is Nakulan, a Tamilian. He has crossed the borders to be trained by the ISI and comes back to create terror in India.

The case is entrusted to Assistant Police Commissioner Parasuram (Arjun), a patriotic officer tough as a nail. His love is Kiran who has nothing much to do in the narrative. The bad guy is Akash (Rahul Dev) who sends misguided youths to Pakistan for training and brings them back to subvert our peaceful state! The identity of Akash is a secret while Abbas pops in as Nakulan’s brother and gives a speech against terrorism. Meena (Gayathri) is a petty thief who has a soft corner on our macho officer. The rest of the story is all about how Parasuram nails the bad guys with excessive blood spewing.

Arjun hams as Parasuram. Rahul Dev as the villain strikes an icy menace through his body language. Kiran and Gayathri have displayed their wares liberally. Why does Abbas do such insignificant roles these days? A.R.Rahman’s music score is worth a snore. It is better if Arjun can invest his time and talent in something that is not as bad as Parasuram.
